River circa 1930/2002 (BW photo circa 1999) Photographs of the river ~ then and now ~ were taken from the center span of the old Navajo Bridge, facing north. Despite the construction Glen Canyon Dam, the terrain directly below the bridge hasn't radically changed in 70 years. As usual, Charles made his tours of Lee's Ferry earlier in the day and during the cooler weather that fall afforded ~ but not until the completion of Navajo Bridge in 1929. I typically visited the ferry later in the afternoon, and regrettably, during the hotter times of the year. However, there just doesn't seem to be a bad time of year for snapshots.
